The stadium had a capacity of 35,000 spectators. The grandstands consisted mainly of earthworks, including the former bullet trap for the south grandstand. Only the grandstand on the north side was made of reinforced concrete and had a facade modeled on an ancient Greek theater. Unfortunately, they don't have a gluten-free meal, we had to explain many times our needing and we had only two choices from the menu. The food was awful, the service was worse. And while the prices aren't totally over the top, they are quite steep considering that the helpings were rather small. Though that point is moot because I didn't think food of that quality was worth paying for... Not the best meal I've had in Germany, but certainly a pleasant experience and for the most part everything was tasty, the service decent and the restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere.
Today's arena
The stadium once more hosted national team matches as well as some important games for Eintracht Frankfurt, who reached the final round of the German National Championships in 1959. During the run to the final, 81,000 watched Eintracht beat FK Pirmasens - an attendance record that still stands. The Name says it all, it is traditional for Frankfurt with a great location and good food. But as old as the building is, you would think it comes with tradition and outstanding service- but no one knows, as you never get to see or... We were looking for gluten-free restaurants and found the "gluten-free tag" for this place on tripadvisor.

The grandstand offers rooms that are for meetings, conventions and other events in external markets. Honestly that was not our experience at all. The restaurant is right around the corner from our office in Frankfurt, so we're frequent guests and will continue to give Depot 1899 our business. I had dinner there with a couple of friends. After we had placed our order, it took them over an hour until the food was finally served.

You could us regulars as we are there almost every week; it is always full - but people come here for the good food and the location not for the service because this you will search in vain. As good as the location is, as great as the food is, with No Service at all how can this unique place stay and survive?? As every Gastronom knows the heart of all is the outstanding service that brings people in again. Would recommend coming here for some authentic German food in a nice environment. They also have a nice breakfast buffet on weekends which is also quite popular.

We had business meeting at the Depot- great thing that if weather is great you can just walk from the center- I really like the overall atmosphere - and great selection of tradition German food and drinks . Everyone speaks English which is an added... Lots of negative reviews - but not sure I went to the same restraunt! Very busy - but we were sat upstairs and told we should be patient. Service however was superb - wasnt rushed and wasnt quick - perfect for a longer dinner.

We had high expectations of Depot 1899, but were let down by the food. I had the beef goulash and the beef was dry. Not sure how you can do that, and after much discussion we think the chef took a cigar break at the...
